Become A Resident
Applications for residency are accepted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) only. This service, which is sponsored by Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), transmits residency applications, letters of recommendation, Dean’s Letters, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from medical schools to residency program directors. We do not require any documents in addition to ERAS requirements.
Please refer to ERAS web site or the contact person at your school in order to learn more about applying for residency through ERAS.
DMC Orthopaedics participates in the National Resident Matching Program. Through this program, four residents will be selected for the traditional 5-year orthopaedic residency program.
Please submit your applications through ERAS. All applications submitted by our deadline will be given consideration for an interview. Please note however, the average USMLE Step 1 score for an incoming resident at our program is 230. We ask you to consider this prior to submitting an application but do not discourage anyone from applying.
The deadline for electronic receipt of your completed application is October 15, 2018. Applications that are incomplete as of October 15, 2018 will not be considered.
Approximately 45 applicants will be selected for an interview. These individuals will be notified by email November 2018. For 2018 Applicants interviews are:
- Friday, January 12th, 2018
- Monday, January 15th, 2018
The interviews begin at 7:00 a.m. and end at approximately 3:00 p.m. Interviewees are asked to arrive the evening before their interview in order to participate in a special welcome reception. Please dress professionally for your interview.
The interview process begins with an informal dinner on the Thursday evening before the actual interview date. This event is hosted by the current orthopaedic residents. Dress is casual. This is a good opportunity to talk freely with the residents, learn more about the program and the Detroit-Metro area. Those invited to interview should refer to their personalized itinerary for information about location, time, and details of this event.
If any questions, please contact our residency coordinator.
